Group basics > Managing your group

Group privacy settings

LittleYell provides rich privacy settings that let you control who can Yell, join, invite new members, and see group information.

You can pick the most popular settings by clicking on Public, Private, or Fan Group. Choose Public if you want anyone to join and everyone to see your Yells. Private restricts membership to users that you approve and keeps non-members from seeing your Yells.

Fan Groups allow only Leaders and Administrators to Yell, but anyone can join and receive Yells.

Custom Settings

Click on each of the settings and if you don't see what you want, choose Custom. You'll be able to choose each setting individually.

Most of the settings are pretty easy to understand. You can choose from the following settings.

  • Everyone
  • Members
  • Leaders
  • Administrators

To promote a Member to Leader or Administrator you need to be an Administrator yourself (you'll be an administrator if you created the group). For more information on promoting and managing members, click here.

For example, you might want everyone to Yell, but only the members you designate as Leader or Administrators to see the Yells. No problem. Or you might want everyone to see the Yells, but only Leaders and Administrators to Yell. Also, no problem.

Remember that if you are a Leader, you are also a Member. If you are an Administrator, you are a Leader and a Member. In other words, a Leader can do all the stuff that a Member can do (and possibly more). An Administrator can do everything, always. They are the Supreme and Beloved Leaders of the Group.
