Yelling basics
A yell is a short message that lets you get information out quickly and easily to a group of people. It can be a reminder, a question, an update, or really anything at all that you need to communicate to a group of people.
After you login, you can Yell from the box at the top of your home page. Click on the To button and select the groups and individual members you'd like to receive your Yell. Click Yell it once you've typed your message.
The Long and the Short
Mobile messages are pretty short so if your Yell starts getting long, we'll let you know how much of it will get to folks mobile phones. If you know your Yell will be received by email or read on the web, don't worry, keep typing. If some or all of the recipients will be reading mobile text, better keep it short.
It's Ok to Repeat Yourself
Go ahead and select lots of different groups and individual members to receive your Yell. Each person will only get the Yell once, even if they are in more than one of the groups you choose.
For example, if you Yell to ReallyCoolGroup, ReallyBigGroup and to FriendBob and it turns out FriendBob is in both groups, your good friend will not be receiving three messages. He'll get the message just once. Even better, if Bob asked for email from ReallyCoolGroup and a mobile text from ReallyBigGroup, he'll get both a mobile text and an email. Smart, right?
Yell from Group and Profile Pages
If you have permission to Yell to a group or individual member, you'll see a Yell box on the group or profile page. This is a quick way of Yelling to a single group or individual without returning to your home page.
