CRITICAL PURSUITS LAUNCHES THE OPEN BETA
LittleYell.com offers group application functionality with the soul of a social network
FULLERTON, CA (April 24, 2010) - Critical Pursuits today announced the beta release of LittleYell.com, a free-to-use social media platform that provides an engaging microblog format for groups to send and receive short messages, called Yells, via the web, email, or mobile phone.
"LittleYell is a cross between a microblogging platform like Twitter and a group application like Yahoo Groups" said Scott Daniel, cofounder and CEO of Critical Pursuits. "The focus for LittleYell is on group communications rather than social networking. We want it to be fun to use, but the focus of the product design was on useful applications."
LittleYell.com provides users with a unique and entertaining experience, useful for nearly any group including amateur sports teams, book clubs, family groups, church organizations, radio and television stations, and businesses. Basic functions at the core of the LittleYell experience are:
- Yells - Yells are short message delivered by email, by text or online according to users' preference. Yells delivered to mobile phones are limited to 140 characters, but Yells delivered on the web or by email can be any length. Yells can be delivered immediately or scheduled for the future to provide reminders or send content on a specific schedule.
- Groups - Groups are easily configured to be public, private, or custom by clicking a single check-box. For groups that don't want to share their conversations with the public, LittleYell automatically restricts views of Yells to private groups so that only members of the group can see them.
"The product is great for virtually any group conversation, but we are especially excited about what it can do for large groups," said cofounder and CTO, Jeff Kunzelman. "Groups can create a Collaborative Microblog™ which allows a small team of contributors to Yell to a much larger group of subscribers. We haven't seen anything like this anywhere else."
Critical Pursuits anticipates that LittleYell will remain in beta until early summer 2010, using this period to respond to feedback, complete key features, and make necessary improvements.
